At the age of 97, Agathe von Trapp has died. Her last name made her famous, as it was her family which inspired the Academy Award-winning “The Sound of Music” film.
Agathe was the oldest daughter of Capt. Georg Ritter von Trapp. She was portrayed as “Liesl” in the 1965 movie. However, a close friend told the Associated Press Agathe “cried when she first saw it [the movie] because of the way they portrayed [her father].” She felt he was portrayed too stern and unloving.
The friend went on to say “if it had been about another family she would have loved it.”
