Here at The Gist Network we understand that you’re busy. You’re in a rush. You’re tired, but you still want the news. How else do you plan to hold that surprisingly successful, fake-nice, small-talk conversation at the office?

The Gist started on June 18, 2009 as a daily news blog called Rapid Reads. The Gist’s founder, Rebekah Hood, created Rapid Reads after a major accident right after college graduation postponed her entrance in to the working world as a journalist. As someone who always has 90 million ideas and moves 90 miles a minute, Rebekah decided to put her journalistic skills and loads of free, recovery time to good use. Thus, Rapid Reads was born; a collection of current events and news stories aggregated from various sources, compiled in to quips and short, sassy sentences. Rapid Reads was a success, so here we are!

The Gist Network is Rapid Reads on steroids. There’s room for more stories, more videos, and more contributors. The possibilities are endless!
